Preparing for Your Distant Healing
You need not do a single thing to prepare for this, but if
you would like to co-ordinate your activities with it, there are a few things
that can help you to participate.
Physical Preparation:
Find a comfy place and position where you do not expect to
be disturbed. Wear loose comfy clothing. Be sure you are in a warm place or
wear a light blanket or wrap. Remove any excessive jewelry (hematite especially
can serve as a bit of a deterrent)
Emotional Preparation:
When we are hurting we can feel there is an awful lot at
stake in entering a healing. The more we worry about our illnesses, the more
there seems to be at stake emotionally over the outcome. Yet it is often this
very worry that blocks the free flow of energy that brings us into balance. So
it can really help to find a more neutral emotional space when sitting with this
healing. Going into it with a sense of wonder and curiosity and interest can
transform the block of worry into the free flow of balance and harmony. If you
think you have too much at stake emotionally, it may help to go off somewhere
and do something totally different. When I did this for a man in Alaska, he went
off to the bingo parlour so that he could keep busy. (And yes, he did notice
something taking place even as they were calling the numbers)
Mental Preparation:
Try not to expect any one thing from happening. If you have
been experiencing physical discomfort in a certain area, try to direct your
attention to other places in your body as well as there. Sometimes a shift needs
to happen somewhere else before it can happen in the place of greatest
discomfort.
During The Healing
Each person experiences this type of healing in a different
way. Let it be all right for your experience to be unique.
If you think your ego might get too involved in the process,
try watching your breath whenever you find your mind getting in the way. Just
relax and keep bringing your attention back to your breath.
If you find yourself worrying about the outcome, it can help
to say to yourself "I wonder what is happening next?" Try saying it with a real
sense of adventure, taking notice of the words and how they alter your state of
emotion and mind. Then pay attention to sensations in your body as they move
through you.
You may or may not have a sense of energy moving inside of
you, or heat or coolness. You may notice a change in your foot or even outside
your skin or in another unlikely place. You may find yourself moving into a
dreamlike meditation, where you ride upon these energies or you may find
yourself carried off to distant places in your mind. Thoughts and memories may
come up. Notice them, but do not try to hold on to them. As you let them float
away you may get further insight by seeing what they change into. You may simply
fall asleep.
When The Healing Is Done
You may wish to jot down any sensations, thoughts or ideas
that came us during the process while they are still fresh in your memory. Watch
over the next days and weeks for inner urges that you might have ignored before
the reading. They may direct you to activities that are different than your
normal habits like:
- a food that is different or that you haven't had in a while
- a movement that is out of the ordinary (walking if you run or running if you walk -
or even spinning for a circle or two or swinging your arms and twisting or other activities
you may have done as a kid but "grew out of")
- clothes that contain a different sort of fabric than usual
- colours to wear occasionally or surround yourself with that are not the norm
Follow these urges as you can. The awareness of them is
important, because it opens the door for you to be open to insight you may have
habitually blocked yourself from in the past. Notice how these urges change.
While royal blue may have seemed like a great colour one day, if you are tired
of it suddenly, it may be because another colour will be more fitting for the
current time. So see which feels the best.
You may feel a little spacey for a bit, but most people feel
well focused and bright. You may have tears come to the surface. If you do, let
them fall and watch how they change into something else. But most just feel very
good.
Healing is not about feeling the same all the time. We are
changing fields of energy in a changing environment. Healing is about moving
with the changes that naturally occur and keeping ourselves in harmony with
those changes as best we can. Even when we feel pain, an awareness of movement
and change can allow us to see how the natural state of pain is to change into
something else. This healing is designed to help you become aware of the
movement that you are. Enjoy it.
